Dr. Tao is interested in studying pathophysiology of mental diseases, especially of schizophrenia. Impaired development on synapse formation or axon-glia interaction is emerging mechanisms for psychiatric diseases which have no obvious structural abnormalities. By using genetic, biochemical and imaging approaches, her studies contribute to a better understanding of these processes and to the development of potential diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for psychiatric diseases. Her research publications include Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A., Neuron, J. Neurosci., Mol. Cell Biol. and so on.
