Dr. Wei Chen currently is a professor of School of Medicine at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He did  his Ph.D. and post-doctoral trainings with Dr.Cheng Zhu at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, mainly on investigating the mechanical force regulation on membrane receptors’ functions. He developed single-molecule biophysical techniques, including the thermal fluctuation assay and fluorescence biomembrane force probe. He combined these state-of-art techniques with other force spectroscopies and molecular dynamic simulation to study how mechanical force regulate integrin conformational changes as well as ligand binding kinetics on living cells and to investigate molecular mechanism by which how the T cell receptor triggers T-cell immune responses.
