Using multi-disciplinary approach the Zhao lab tries to ask questions that formed the bottleneck for the translational neuroscience field:1) How to enhance the repair efficiency of the endogenous (resident to the brain) glial precursors in the aged brain? 2) How to improve the efficacy of the exogenous (transplant) embryonic neural precursors to differentiate into specific type of neurons?  The long-term goal is to explore new ways for brain repair after injury or in disease conditions.
