Conference Report: 10th Annual Conference of Center for Neuroscience, ZJU

More than 700 PIs, postdocs and students from ZJU and other universities attended the 10th Annual Conference of School of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS), which was chaired by Professor Jimin SHAO, Vice Dean of School of BMS, on January 18th, 2019. The conference held one main session and eleven parallel sessions with more than one hundred talks. Dr. Jianhong LUO, vice president of ZJU, gave the opening remarks and highlighted recent academic achievements by School of BMS. Dr. Zhihong LIU, Dean of ZJU School of Medicine, emphasized the importance of translational medicine and proposed a new research ecosystem symbolized by dynamic connection between basic science and clinical practice. Following the opening ceremony, Dr. Guoqiang CHEN, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Dr. Chunyan Zheng, Vice Dean of ZJU Law School, Dr. Bing ZHU, Vice President of CAS Institute of Biophysics, and Dr. Guoji Guo from ZJU School of BMS were invited to give keynote lectures.    

 

The Neuroscience session was hosted by Dr. Huan MA. First, Dr. Kexin YUAN from Tsinghua University was invited to give a lecture on “Bidirectional regulation of awakening by the auditory thalamic PIN region”. Another invited speaker, Dr. Gang CAO from Huazhong Agricultural University, gave a lecture on “Mapping the brain: From connectome to transcriptome and epigenome”. Next, Dr. Zhong CHEN, Dr. Lijun KANG, Dr. Fan Yang, and Dr. Fang GUO from ZJU Institute of Neuroscience shared with the audience their recent work. Attendees were greatly impressed by the high quality of all talks and fantastic questions from students and postdocs during this session.
