From October 28 to November 3, 2017 annual summary for Major research program of National Natural Science Foundation of China the neural circuit foundation of Emotion and Memory” and the international seminar “the training course for multi-scale brain imaging technology were successfully held in Hangzhou. This session was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, undertaken by the Neuroscience Research Center of Zhejiang University and co-organized by the Zhejiang Academy of Neurosciences. The chairman of the academic committee of the conference is Academician Duan Shumin of Zhejiang University. The chairman of the organizing committee of the conference is Professor Wang Jing and the executive chairman is Professor Chen Zhong and Professor Hu Hailan of Zhejiang University. The conference was hosted by Professor Chen Zhong. Academician Shen Yan, vice director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Wu Zhaohui, president of Zhejiang University, academician Duan Shumin, dean of School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, members of various project teams and about 350 participants who are Leaders, experts and students from more than 60 universities and research institutes attended the meeting.

President Wu Zhaohui of Zhejiang University first gave a welcome speech about the conclusion of the fund committee held in Hangzhou. President Wu Zhaohui emphasized that Zhejiang University has been promoting the internationalization strategy of dual first-rate discipline construction. The brain science alliance led by Academician Duan Shumin as Zhejiang University 18 + 12 an important team in the construction of double-top-notch disciplines is the key development target of Zhejiang University now and in the future. Shen Yan, vice director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, hoped that experts will grasp the frontier on important scientific issues and find the future direction of brain science in both hot spots and unpopular. He hoped that experts will pay more attention to the citation rate and innovation of articles and improve the international influence of our research results. Academic Committee Leader of Major Research Program and Academician Duan Shumin, Dean of School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, emphasized the forward-looking layout of the major research plan of neural loop foundation of emotion and memory. Since 2011, the annual summary meeting held by the International Seminars and research technical training programs had strengthened the exchange of important issues and technical methods in brain science at home and abroad and laid a solid foundation for the forthcoming brain plan in China.

Since its official launch in 2012, a total of 168 projects have been funded, including 22 Key Support Projects, 112 Cultivation Projects and 18 Integration Projects, 6 research projects. The cumulative funding was 226 million yuan. Annual summary meeting and international symposium was held once a year.

On October 29 - November 1, Zhejiang University School of Medicine organized a four-day multi-scale brain imaging training course. A total of more than 60 participants from more than 30 domestic universities and research institutes attended this training course. The training courses were based on different scales of brain imaging technologies and methods, including ultra-high resolution fluorescence microscopy, conscious free and ultra-fine neuron imaging, magnetic resonance imaging and focused ion beam electron microscopy.

The international symposium invited 14 well-known experts from home and abroad, including 10 from well-known foreign universities and research institutes. And they made very inspiring reports on different research directions of the neural circuit foundation of Emotion and Memory Outstanding representatives of major research projects from 10 universities and research institutes in China, a total of 12 experts, made brilliant reports. Each research project has made exciting new progress, showing that the major research program of the neural circuit of emotion and memory is very innovative. During the meeting, the Academic Committee conducted discussions, analyzed the progress of the major research projects and existing problems, and made further arrangements on how to enhance the innovativeness and influence of the project. The meeting made the current progress clear, analyzed the existing problems, deployed the next plan, and achieved complete success.
