Dr. Hao Wang is a PI of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. from university of science and technology of China in 2006. In 2007, he joined Dr. Zhong-wei Zhang’s lab in The Jackson Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow. His work in Dr. Zhang’s lab has identified a critical period in the development of thalamic relay synapses. By using knockout mice, he demonstrated that GluA3 and adenylate cyclase 1 play key roles in experience-dependent plasticity of thalamic relay synapses. Dr. Wang joined Zhejiang University in March, 2012. His main research interests are 1) understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the refinement of thalamic relay synapses. 2) identifying neuronal circuits for innate fear.

Based on previous neuronal circuit research for innate fear, his team foud that the dorsal habenular nucleusto dorsolateral tegmental area circuit has an essential role on olfactory sensation induced innate fear. The research results were published in multiple leading journals in neuroscience such as Nature Neuroscience, eLife, J Neurosci, andJ Physiol Current Bio. His research was reported by the national natural science foundation funds news, china science news, and several academic jounals and websites. During the past years, he has obtained research funds from Zhejiang province, ministry of education, national natural science foundation and the ministry of science and technology.
