According to the last count, more than 250 thousand people commit suicide and 2 million attempt suicide every year in China. Suicide has become the first cause of death among people aged between 15 and 34. In order to understand the functional state of the suicides’ brain better and to prevent suicide, our institute invited Prof. Dick F. Swaab from the Institute of Neuroscience KNAW to give a lecture titled

 “Understanding the suicide: interpretation from the brain research”. Prof. Swaab will describe it from many different perspectives, including risk factors, Suicides’ brain functional and mental states, the relationship between depression and suicide, the “stress hypothesis” and drug intervention of suicide.
